An Ode to my Shoes

You are on my feet

supporting my body,

dealing with rocks, thorns, and mud.

You never complain

or refuse to go with me everywhere  choose --without a saying of when or where.

You tell the story of my life,

how I've grown,

where I've been,

how I've dealt with the terrain.

You sometimes are borrowed by sisters wanting a new look

or needing to run to the mailbox.

Your duty to my feet is one of ever importance.

And for that I salute your honor to always be with me.

Thanks for hanging in despite the

smelly,

the long journeys,

and the bumps along the way.

And when your tired body begins to break,

I will gladly dispose of you in favor of something new

forgetting completely the service you gave me.
