possibilities it was your firm calloused hands your inviting and strong presence your desire to make me laugh through my tears it was your deep cerulean eyes your determined and teachable nature your desire to include me in all your plans it was your symmetrical lips your zest and zeal to try new things your desire to go anywhere and everywhere with me that led me to this moment this moment where we hold hands when we pray this moment where we kiss as though time were running out this moment where you hold our daughter and she sees in you the same thing I see in you the potential for all dreams to come true it truly is all of you for me

An Ode to my Shoes You are on my feet supporting my body, dealing with rocks, thorns, and mud. You never complain or refuse to go with me everywhere choose --without a saying of when or where. You tell the story of my life, how I've grown, where I've been, how I've dealt with the terrain. You sometimes are borrowed by sisters wanting a new look or needing to run to the mailbox. Your duty to my feet is one of ever importance. And for that I salute your honor to always be with me. Thanks for hanging in despite the smelly, the long journeys, and the bumps along the way. And when your tired body begins to break, I will gladly dispose of you in favor of something new forgetting completely the service you gave me.

Tolerance Something that a lot of individuals cannot seem to comprehend: Something that seems to reverberate off the chambers of their heart without sticking: Something that challenges the devil’s plan of hate: Something that opens the groundwork for kindness: Tolerance. Now this is not something that can be easily defined in Webster dictionary’s Or placed open faced on the counter of a 1950’s diner. This is something that is fought for. That is sought for. That can be caught by others However not as quickly as viruses and colds. Tolerance. How can we expect kindness when we don’t show it? How can we preach love if we don’t show it? How can we expect mercy if we don’t show it? Tolerance. Putting others before ourselves, Showing compassion when we may not understand, And loving our neighbor the way we love ourselves is Tolerance.

The world is the only thing that dampens dreams. The fear of not being able to adequately provide. The intense competition and disappointment of failure pushes that little girl away from those dreams. Those dreams slip farther and farther away until she soon begins to believe that she herself is a failure. … This is not the world that I want my little girl to grow up in. I want her to see the sunshine, to experience the rainbows that come after a rainstorm; to see the beauty in the morning dew; to dream of new possibilities and endless opportunities; to realize that she...

E You were once just a mere figment of imagination. A thought that seemed to be dreamed of too soon. But it was all apart of our construction; The construction of our family. We seemed to lay the foundation and begin building the walls Faster than the bricks could be supplied. A positive test. What would people say? Would they say we had you too soon? Would they say that you were a mistake? Soon your tiny body begins it’s growth, From a small poppy seed to A strawberry, to a mango It seems that this growth is exponential, twisting and pulling on every muscle in my own body. But it is all worth it. All worth it to meet you in a short period of time. Despite the constant stares and judging looks, I carry you Through college courses, A crazy virus, And car payments that seem never-ending. There is not anything I would not trudge through to bring you to our family. “Your blood pressure is 170/110…. Your baby is ...
